The Quiet Room

We read in the Bible that Jesus regularly went to a solitary place to pray.  In Matthew 6:6 Jesus told his disciples that, in contrast to the proud and super-religious Pharisees who prayed loudly out in the street so everyone would see how holy they were, they should “Go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen.”

If we want to grow in our faith, we need to spend time speaking to God (in prayer) and hearing from God (through the Bible).  The best place to do this is where we are unlikely to be disturbed or distracted.  We hope the readings and prayers given here in the “Quiet Room” will help you in your own devotional life this week. Spend some time each day reading carefully through the words and allowing the fullness of their meaning to reach to the depth of who you are.
